Research consistently demonstrates that the most resilient children are those who receive sensitive —child centred— caregiving that responds to the needs of the child…” @australianpsychologist – in the context of adult-focused vs child-focused needs and the parent’s responsibility to make life easier for the child, not the other way around.

This is especially true for parents going through separation or divorce and the subsequent co-parenting relationship. Where there is conflict, parents often become so preoccupied with their own internal struggle or needs while fighting with their ex that the needs and feelings of the child are not heard or attended to.

Our focus, as a family law practice, remains child-centric in all matters concerning a child.

In matters before the Court, the Court has to consider what is in the best interests of the child taking into account various factors as set out in the Children’s Act 38 of 2005.
